I am looking for records of Daniel Mac Maney married to Eliza Nolan (born in Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, 4/9/1866). The marriage is in Carlow (10/25/1882) and is registered with two different deeds: Mc Nanamey and Mc Manamy.
Their children are: James Mack (born August 1883), Maryanne Mack (12/18/1884) and Elizabeth Mack (01/10/1887), all in Castle Hill, Carlow. And in their baptism records: Marian Mac Namee (12/23/1884) and Elizabeth Mac Namee (1/11/1887) from Carlow's Cathedral of the Assumpti. They lived on Tullow St, Castle Hill.
Daniel is the son of Sarah Brmingham and Daniel Mac Maney. There are no historical records linking these names.

  • Hi,

The Surnames of Ireland by Dr. Edward MacLysaght records "MacManamy" in page 207 a, see MacMenamy.

Page 214 records "MacMenamy" as High Spirits and a form of MacMenamin found in Couty Tyrone. It is "MacManamy" in County Roscommon, where "MacManaway" is probably a local form.

    Regards,

    McCoy
