Looking for Jane LAVERTY, born 1836, Larne, Antrim.
Father John, Mother possible, Ellen, maybe MCGILL. Looks like my family in the 1851 census.
Jane married Robert MCKAY in 1858. Robert from Grange Killyglen.
Moved to Dalry, Ayr, Scotland then migrated in South Australia in 1865.
Robert was living with his brother Thomas and his wife, Mary Ann WALKER from Carrickfergus in Dalry.
MCKAY, LAVERTY names from Clare, South Australia. CRANE, GILBERT, BAULDERSTONE, JACKSON, LONDON, KNAPPSTEIN, BOWLEY (2).

You haven’t said what denomination the Laverty & McGill families were. I’ll assume RC. The RC parish records for Larne start in 1821. They are not on-line on the nli site (where most RC records are to be found) nor on Ancestry. However the Ulster Historical Foundation reportedly has them from 1828 onwards. That’s a pay to view site. So you may be able to find the childrens baptisms there. http://www.ancestryireland.com
If the families were a different denomination, let me know what they were and I’ll tell you what records exist and where to find them. They are probably not on-line, and so it may involve a visit to PRONI in Belfast.
I can see some trees with the Larne Laverty family on Ancestry. Some of them look a bit unreliable to put it mildly. I think people may have mixed more than 1 Laverty family up. For example, there’s a marriage for Archibald Laverty to Ann Walker of Eagry near Coleraine in 1856. (Hutton/Bowley family). That Archibald was farming in Clougher (Cloughorr), near Portrush and his father was a farmer, not a labourer. Portrush is 50 miles from Larne. I am pretty sure that’s not the same family as the Larne one. So don’t rely too heavily on Ancestry trees is my advice. A lot contain guesswork, which is then copied by others without any verification.
