My 4x great grandmother was admitted to the workhouse in Shoreditch, London in 1852, she provided her birthplace as what looks like Evebury in the County of Cork. I cannot find Evebury in records or map, can anyone help tell me what the place could be. I have attached copy of the workhouse entry as I may be reading name incorrectly.

Thanks for any help

The RC parish was Iveleary also known as Inchigeelagh in West Cork. I will see if I can find any records.

The Iveleary records start in 1816  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0062 and it appears from the note that Jeremiah and Ellen married around 1823. However, my search of the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie failed to find a marriage record. You may want to scan the register to see if you can locate the record. Appears they left Ireland for England right after marriage.

    bsglondon,

So there is a marriage for Jas Cronin & Ellen Leary of Gurteenflugh, Bealanageary, Inchigeelagh, West Muskerry, Cork: 19 Feb 1822. I also found a Darby Cronin in the parish of Inchigeelagh, townland of Corney, union of Dunmanway, in the Ireland Tithe Applotment Book for 1827-1834. They are gone by the 1852 Griffith’s Valuation, most houses in the Corney Griffith’s are unoccupied so this does seem to be a promising lead.
