Hi from Down Under
I am researching the irish descendants of my Son-in-law who is a McNamara. His Great Grandfather James Lawrence McNamara married Catherine/Kate Madigan on 25th October 1899 in Elsternwick, Melbourne, Victoria. Catherine was born on 13th October 1865 at Shanagolden Ballylin.
I am trying to find out just when she emigrated to Australia and having no luck at all. I have searched all the assisted and unassisted passenger lists to Victoria, South Australia, NSW & Queensland without any luck. I came across this site by accident and as they say "hope springs eternal"
Hope somneone in the community can help me shed some light on this.
Many thanks
Syl

Is it possible Kate was married before and emigrated under her married name? I see in the records a Catherine, daughter of Daniel, who married a Burke in 1892 in Limerick.
I hope this helps.

Hi Patricia
I hadn't considered this but I guess it is a possibility so will investigate. However I do have a Marriage Cert when she married James Lawrence McNamara over here in 1899 and she is listed as Catherine Madigan!
Thanks so much for your quick response.
Cheers
