Hello, Looking for information on Philip Fitzpatrick (1812-1880) and his sister Ann. Philip was born 1812 and emigrated to Baltimore, Maryland sometime during the Hunger. Once there, he married Catherine M. Devine b.1833 , daughter of Owen? and Catherine Devine 1798 - 1863 (nee Reilly?). Owen and Catherine also had a son Charles, born Jun 1827. All of these folks have Kildallan, Cavan listed as their place of birth and residence in their death notices and obituaries. There lives in America are readily documented, with the exception of Ann Fitzpatrick who seems to vanish after the 1850 census in America, but of their time in Cavan, or their predecessors, I have little. Philip's father may have been called John, which points to either Killygowan or Bocade Glebe as possible homesteads. His mother Elizabeth "Betty" Larkin is another name that seems to keep cropping up in research as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've been stuck at this loggerhead for some time.

As you probably already know, the RC records for Kildallan parish do not start until the mid 1860s which is when civil registration also started.
I looked for Tithe records but did not find any records for Kildallan parish.
John Fitzpatrick may have been in the 1855 Griffiths Valuation but likely he was born 1792 or earlier.
The Griffiths show a number of Fitzpatricks in Listiernan townland which might be a possible location.
Have you tested your DNA? I'm suggesting an autosomal test rather than the Y-DNA test (i'm assuming your surname is Fitzpatrick).

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll examine the Listiernan connection, thanks for suggesting it. I have done an Ancestry kit, which has provided some information - specifically the link to Betty Larkin and Denis Fitzpatrick. I've also been in contact with the Fitzpatrick one name study, though my results don't necessarily transfer to their Y-DNA study, and I'm a bit hesitant to make the big spend on a larger test. It may wind up being my only way to connect the dots though, beause as you've rightly said, the RC records are unavailable until the fam had already departed. I took the Y-DNA test about five years ago and my matches go back to the 18th century and earlier but very little info to help with my family research. As you indicated, the test is expensive. I started with Y-37 and have upgraded to Y-111.
