I am looking for information on my GGG Grandparents. Patrick McCabe born about 1782 in County Moaghan and immigrated to Canada about 1848 where he either died at sea or in Canada. He married Mary Farley also of County Monaghan I believe 1818 or before. I do not know their parish or there parents name. Any birth or marriage certificates would be most helpful.

Full civil registration started in Ireland in 1864. Prior to that year, we have to rely on available church records. Many of the RC parishes in Co. Monaghan have records starting in the 1840s or later. When I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland, I did not locate the marriage record for Patrick and Mary and also did not find any baptismal records for children of that couple. Likely the marriage and baptisms occurred in a parish that no longer has records back to the 1840s or earlier.
Have you considered DNA testing?
