Hi there, am trying to find information on the children of Francis Philbin & Mary Mulrooney (married 6-12-1835) in Castleconnor.
Patrick bapt 17-3-1837 (Kilglass, Sligo); John bapt 30-5-1839 (Castleconnor); Thomas bapt 23-5-1841 (Castleconnor); and Martin bapt 13-1-1846 (Castleconnor). Francis was transported to Tasmania where he re-married. So far have been unable to find out what happened to his first wife Mary, and his 4 children. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received. I know that the Philbins were in Carra, Kilhale - if that is any help. Thanks. Joy.

Joy:
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and did not find any leads on Mary Philbin and her sons. I would look into the possibility that they emigrated. I don't know what year Francis was sent to Tasmania but Mary and her children would have been in Ireland when the famine was at its height.
Have you considered DNA testing.
Also, I did find that Francis and Mary Mulrooney Philbin married December 6 1835 in Castleconor.

Hi Roger,
thanks for that. Have thought about DNA testing, but have heard both for and against from different people. Might have to think aout it again. Joy.
