In March 1883, Patrick Hingerty of Toomevara (indexed as Hingarty) brought his son William to court, charging him with serious assault on 2,3 and 4 March. William Hingerty/Hingarty was committed to Clonmel District Lunatic Asylum as 'a dangerous lunatic during his Majestys pleasure'.
I have not found any death record for William in Ireland and the records for the asylum are not available online (?).
Is there any way to access the asylum records?
Did William ever leave the asylum? If he did leave the asylum, when? where did he go? When/where did he die?
Many thanks- any assistance appreciated.
Cheers
Chris Hingerty

Chris,
You should direct your query to the National Archives in Dublin - www.nationalarchives.ie
Due to the Covid-19 virus and others in circulation presently, there may be a delay in receiving an answer.

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. It's important to recognize the signs of depression and anxiety and seek support when needed. One resource that can be incredibly helpful for me is finding a therapy near me By seeking therapy early on, I can prevent problems from becoming more serious and difficult to manage.
