I am still trying to get definite information about my great grandparents, John Healy & his wife K(C)atherine Healy nee McClune, McGlune, McGloin –different on Marriage & Death Certificates of her children.

Of the 7 children, 4 settled in Australia (Patrick, Michael, John & James), Rodger took over the land from his father, John, at Coagh , Sligo in 1877. There were 2 girls who remained in Ireland. Catherine, married John Meehan & the last was Eleanor (possibly).

In Griffiths  Revision Books John Healy (Snr) had 5 acres (pt. Bog) & a 5 Shilling House at Coagh, Parish of Kilshalvy & probably a 1 Pound House at Kiltycreen /Collecrene.

Rodger never married. He took over the place at Coagh in 1877. So I assume that John (Snr) died about this time. I have no idea when his wife, Catherine, died.

Rodger died on 23rd February 1910 at Kilshalvey, aged 65, in the district of Gurteen.

I have researched many Johns & Catherines on Ireland GeneologyIE but no success for these two.

Questions :

  1. How can I find out where Rodger Healy is buried. Are there records showing his parents’ names. (including mother’s maiden name). Death was registered on 8 March 1910. Perhaps the parents are buried at the same location.
  2. How can I find records of John & Catherine Healy’s  death and  burial place(s).

The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has civil birth, marriage and death records. For death records from 1864-1870 we currently only have index records and for 1871-1970 we have the actual images of the death records. We expect that the images for 1864-1870 will be added in the near future.

Death records do not have a lot of info. Name of the deceased, date of death, address, cause of death and the informants name and sometimes their relationship to the deceased.

The Healys lived within the Boyle registration district. There is an index record for a John Healy who died in 1867 at age 62. Possibly this record is for your John.

I did find a death record for Catherine in 1871

See second record Catherine Healy died in 1871 as a widow. Rodger was informant.

1910 death record for Rodger. His brother in law John Meehan was the informant.

I exchanged e-mails with our volunteer for Kilshalvy parish and he indicated that the Healys are most likely buried in Mount Irwin cemetery. I looked online and there are very few records for that cemetery. Likely there is no headstone for John and Catherine and possibly Rodger.

Let me know if you have any questions.
