Maurice Doyle came to Canada from Ireland in 1827 (according to the Northumberland County census for 1851)
he came to the Miramichi area, South Nelson, and married Katherine Walsh of Kilkenny county Ireland, who had entered
Canada in 1835. They were married Oct. 2/1836 in Nelson Miramichi. Maurice died at age 55 in 1862 in Miramichi (Renous) 

Maurice had a brother Thomas who came to Canada in 1820 never married in census of 1861 he's listed as age 24, my Maurice (listed as Morris) aged 50 and Catherine aged 45. 

Looking for ancestors or family members of these two ancestors of mine .

    I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and Catherine Walsh was an extremely common name in Co. Kilkenny in the period around 1815 so we would need her parents names to see if a record is available.  (I recognize you do not have parents names).

    There are no Maurice Doyle baptismal records in Co. Kilkenny until 1828.

    Have you considered DNA testing?

  • yes I have done DNA with Ancestry.ca and uploaded my raw results to MyHeritage , nothing from Ireland or anyone related to the Doyles or Walsh has shown up in a few years with ancestry and with MyHeritage one single match out of hundreds so far was from Ireland, I wrote to her and no reply.. ;( 

    I do not have parents for Maurice and Thomas Doyle (brothers) nor do I have one for Catherine/Katherine Walsh

    that is mainly what I am looking for

  • Hi, I took a look at the 1851 and 1861 Canadian censuses.  In 1851 Maurice's older brother, Thomas, lived with the Doyle family.

    But in 1861, the Thomas Doyle who is the head of Maurice's household is the SON of Maurice and Catherine.

  • I'm a descendant of Maurice Doyle (born in 1806 Ireland and immigrated in Miramichi in 1827 and married Katherine Walsh in 1836). I'm his great, great, great grandson. Maurice had a son John Allan Doyle, who had a son Maurice Sr Doyle who had a son Frank Doyle. All of these descendants lived in the area of Miramichi and St-Fidèle de Ristigouche. 

    Frank had a son Georges who was my father.

  • Thanks Miked  I'm your cousin I guess my dad was also Maurice who married Rose Aimee Arbour.. I have all the family info up to the Maurice from Ireland and just can't get anything more ;(

  • Hello Irene,

    If my research is correct, your dad was my grandfather Frank's brother. I have also found information up to Maurice from Ireland and looking for further info. I would like to find living relatives in Ireland. I will let you know if I find anything.
