I am looking for information about the family of Patrick Mitchell born Galway in 1811 and died in Gunning NSW Australia in 1875.
His son John married Sarah Murphy in 1861 at Goulburn Nsw. They lived at "Erindale" Dalton Nsw.
Sarah's parents were Patrick Murphy and Mary Ann Connaton.

Many Co. Galway RC parishes do not have records back to 1811. I did check the subscription site Roots Ireland and there were three Patrick Mitchel/Mitchell baptismal records in Co. Galway around 1811 (the first record is not very helpful).
April 1809 (no day provided) Menlough RC parish no parents names provided
March 2 1810 Rahoon RC parish father David Mitchel mother no name provided
March 14 1812 Cappatagle RC parish father Thomas Mitchell mother Anne Lynch
Since you have not found his parents names, you may want to consider DNA testing to see if you have matches with people with Mitchell connections who know more about the family in Ireland.

--siblings of Patrick
--names of other children
--birthplace of John (Ireland or Australia)?
--date of emigration to Australia
If so, it might be helpful in identifying your Patrick in the records.
