Wondering if anybody of Treacy lines has taken DNA tests. It would be very helpful to those whose families left their place of origin 150+ years ago.

Yes, my mother and her 2nd cousin both have taken DNA tests. Their common ancestors are Daniel Treacy and Catherine Tuohy, who lived in Dromard More, Killavinoge, Co. Tipperary. Both were born about 1800, and several children immigrated to the US around 1850-1855. I have found other cousins in the US, and also one still living in Co. Tipperary. Also I have used DNAPainter to identify specific segments on specific chromosomes of my mom's DNA that came down from Daniel & Catherine. Please contact me if this Treacy family line is of interest to you. Celeste

Good to hear you have gone down dna route, Celeste. I haven't picked up any Treacys on mine yet! Quite a few Treacys in Tipperary. My 2 x Great Grandmother went there from Galway about 1850 and no knowledge of her maiden name. Good luck with your research.

I have taken a DNA test, but don't know the proper way to share that information. My grandfather was Denis Treacy, grandmother Margaret Gildea. He was from County Offaly and Margaret's family (I think) was close to there.

My great-grandfather, Denis Treacy (born in 1840) married Julia Doughan (born in 1843). Julia and her children immigrated to New York City in 1888.

Who did you do DNA test with. Mine was with Ancestry and they have facilities for sharing.
