My 3GGF Michael Fitzpatrick was born about 1795 in County Roscommon.  Based on Griffith Evaluation I believe his father was James Fitzpatrick Sr. and he had a brother James. In 1857 Michael & James leased property in Ballyglass West, Tibohine.  Michael married Cecilia Cahill 17 Jan 1837 in Loughlynn.  They had 2 children, John (my 2GGF) and Marian.  Michael died 26 Apr 1877 in Ballyglass West and Cecilia died 10 Sep 1875 in Ballyglass West. My 2GGF John Fitzpatrick was born in Tibohine, Loughlynn in November, 1938.  He married Honor Duffy 3 May 1857 in Birmingham, England.  They immigrated to the USA around 1867 and settled in Chicago.  I would appreciate any additional information for James Sr., James Jr., Michael and Cecilia Cahill.  I have not found any other relatives of James and Michael and would love to know if any still exist in Tibohine or County Roscommon.

The 1825 Tithe listing for Tibohine civil parish shows a Michael Fitzpatrick in Ballyglass. I assume this is the Michael in your note born 1795.

The records for Loughglynn start in 1817. I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record for Cecelia Cahill so she must have been born before 1817.

There were no Fitzpatrick families in the 1901 census for Ballyglass West townland.

  • Thanks for the information.  I have discovered it is very difficult to find information or relatives of my family in Roscommon.  I have been looking for several years.
