I am searching for Jacob Leake born abt 1785-1795, The titles list him in 1826 at Clomantagh Townland St. George, Freshford Parish, County Kilkenny but his name is stroked out and the name Paul Lewis replaces it. The 1827 Titles place him at Clomantagh St George Townland, Clomantagh Parish, County Kilkenny. It looks like the townland is the same but the parish changed.
In November 1832 he is given a land grant in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. This means he would have emigrated between 1827 and 1832. He emigrated with 3 children: Henrietta born abt 1811, Margaret born abt 1812 and Peter born abt 1815. No wife arrived with this family and I do not know what her name was.
I have not been able to find any records other than these for this family in Ireland. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Helen

Hello Hello, I am looking over old queries and have had a search for your ancestor to no avail, it is an unusual name and I can find no baptisms or marriages for a Leake in Kilkenny, the Catholic registers for Freshford do go back to the late 1700s but not the marriages, https://registers.nli.ie/ however I feel the family may have been a different religion and the Church of Ireland (Anglican) records are apparently held locally in Freshford, my database has some but starting in the mid 1800s.See list of C of I registers here:

The Registry of Deeds has a volutary project going and it is not complete but 62 Leake names in it for interest, no Kilkenny ones, https://www.irishdeedsindex.net/index.php
Unless there are local records in Freshford it is unlikely we will find more information, if the family were Presbyterian the particular religion may have their own records.
A long shot is he was a tenant and the estate records survive but I do not know who the landlord would have been and not all estate papers survive.
