Barbara, there was no 1921 census in Ireland as the War of Independence was on and it was thought it would not be filled in and the census collectors were under threat. It was next done in 1926 and despite promises for early release it will not be released until 1926 so we have a 4 year wait.
The Irish genealogy site has BMDs for marriages to 1941 and deaths to 1971 and births to 1921, it should be increased by a year this year so may assist. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
Select civil records.

Adding to Pat’s answer, the portion of the 1926 census relating to Northern Ireland is lost. No-one knows quite what has happened to it. Possibly destroyed by German bombing in WW2 but it has certainly gone. 1937 will be the next census for NI to be released.
