Eliza/Elizabeth Maguire/McGuire

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland in Co. Leitrim for any children of John Maguire and Annie Reilly. Unfortunately, no records came up which means the children were likely baptized in an RC parish which no longer has records back to 1849. Six of the twnety-two Leitrim RC parishes have records starting in the 1850s or later.

I also looked for a marriage record but did not locate a record.

Maguire/McGuire was a common surname in Co. Leitrim. There were seventeen John Maguire/McGuire head of households listed in the 1857 Griffiths Valuation so too many to pinpoint a particulare parish where your family was from.

Have you considered DNA testing? You may find matches with 3rd or 4th Maguire cousins not necessarily in Ireland but maybe in other parts of Australia or other countries.

Thank you Roger for your reply - and for your time. 

I am wondering if perhaps her parents married elswhere and moved to Leitrim..? or that it was one of the parishes that you said has no records for that time. I know that shipping records sometimes have more details, but sadly not in this case! 

Her death notice in the newspaper in Nov 1904 asks for Irish and American papers to please copy - so she must have still had links to both those countries.

Reilly was more common than Maguire in Leitrim. I think John Maguire and Annie Reilly married in Leitrim.

On Elizabeths death cert does it mention her parents names, I found one Elizabeth but her parents names are

Maria Brain

This is obviously not her 

I would think DNA would be the way to go

There are a lot of McGuire/Maguire families in Leitrim
