Hey Everyone,

I have hit a brick wall finding any information on my 3rd Great Grandparents that lived in Dublin. They both appear to have died relatively young and within a year apart.

Name: Robert Spottiswood

Estimated Birth Year: abt 1817 Date of Registration: 1876 Death Age: 59 Registration district: Dublin South

Name: Elizabeth Spottswood

Estimated Birth Year: 1825 Date of Registration: 1875 Death Age: 50 Registration district: Dublin South

They were married in 1853 Dublin Parish.

Their daughter Mary Ann Spottiswood was my 2nd Great Grandmother and she died in 1908 at Dundee, Scotland. She worked in Dublin as a "Boot Closer" when she was 18 years old and lived at 23 Whitefriar Street. She was married on April 15th 1871 at "S.S Michael & John RC Church" in Dublin to Arthur McRae.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Shawn

On the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  I located a September 21 1845 marriage between a Robert Spottiswood and Elizabeth Hayes. Is this marriage record for your ancestors? Marriage was held at the St. Nicholas RC church in Dublin.

There were a number of children for this couple: Robert Sept. 6 1852 Thomas April 27 1863 John July 18 1848 unnamed child January 18 1855 Andrew August 9 1850 Mary Anne August 5 1846

In case you don't have the civil death records for Robert and Elizabeth. See below.

    Roger McDonnell

second record for Elizabeth  50 Bishop Street    https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…

    eighth record for Robert   https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…

    Roger you are awesome!

Those records of their deaths are new to me and very helpful and the marriage information too. Certainly not a lot of longevity in that family as their daughter my 2nd GG died at the age of 55, and her husband my 2nd GG in his despair drowned himself back in 1912, and was found weeks later floating in the Tidal Harbour in Dundee Scotland.

I attached a document that was all I had to work on in locating Robert.

    Cheers,

    Shawn
