Greetings,
I am planning a trip from the US to Ireland in June. Part of it will be with a tour in Northern Ireland. My husband and I plan to visit the Republic of Ireland on our own when the tour ends.
My ancestors were Protestants from Co. Wexford, mainly. They were part of a large chain migration which ensued after the Rebellion of 1798. The only specifics I have at this point are a marriage at Toome in 1799 and a birth in Ballyduff in 1804.
The Valentine Mitchell family emigrated in 1816. Valentine and his wife, Susanna Ayres, were married in Toome (unconfirmed, marriage bonds in Ossory and Ferns Diocese). His son, John Mitchell, from whom I descend, was born (christened?) in Ballyduff. The other names of interest are William Moulton and Rachel Grier and they probably emigrated around 1825-1835, possibly from Co. Carlow near the border with Wexford. The baptism of a possibly correct William Moulton (1807) is in the Bunclody church records. They were all Protestants.
My hope is there is someone who can provide some guidance with our travel plans. We will be looking for accommodations in Co. Wexford as well as some knowledge of the area that will help make our once in a lifetime trip the best it can be.
Thank you for any help!

For your trip, consider staying in Wexford Town or nearby villages to immerse yourself in the area’s rich history. To explore your ancestry, visit the County Wexford Heritage Centre and local churches in Ballyduff and Bunclody, where you might find records or even connect with local historians who can help piece together your family’s story. You can find more vacation packages on this link if you need.
