I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland for a baptismal record in Co. Roscommon for Charles Morgan around 1840. Did not find a record. In fact there were no Morgan baptismal records anywhere in Roscommon where the father was Roger.
I looked for a Charles Morgan marriage and the earliest was in 1878.
I looked at the Tithe listings from the late 1820s/early 1830s. There were 20 Morgan records but no Charles Morgan.
I assume your Morgan ancestors were Roman Catholic. There are a number of RC parishes in Co. Roscommon which have records starting after 1840 so likely your Morgans attended one of those parishes which would explain not finding any records.
I looked at the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household lising for Co. Roscommon and the majority of the Morgan households were in south Roscommon.
Let me know if you have any questions.
