Hi,

Recently, I was researching my Raleigh family from Rawleighstown, Limerick and came across information that the Raleighs of Rawleighstown were on the Fiants records.

On the History Ireland magazine website- "A ‘fiant’ was a warrant by the deputy or council to the Irish Chancery to prepare letters-patent—published written orders to convey a right, an office, title to property or a pardon. The Fiants are statements of command."

I think they were issued from 1500-1700? Is anyone familiar with fiants and how to access the records? I tried the National Archives but might have been looking in the wrong place.

Thank you for your assistance. Mary
