Hello Mary,
I am also a Great granddaughter of Michael O'Monaghan, father of William Monaghan, who is my Mother's grandfather. I started my genealogy search again two years ago, came to a dead end with my search, then came across a finding that the Irish building that stored all records was destroyed in a bombing in 1922. As of June 30, 22, records were being released that survived, I haven't been able to figure out how to search the records that were released. The details you provided is the exact history of my mom's family in Canada. The part that is missing is the family history in Ireland.
I believe that I may have been in contact with you via Ancestry?

Hi Leslie
Still have no sure Irish history on the O'Monaghan's. Will try to access the records that survived if possible..I did get some inswers on Ancestry Ontario message board under " 1861 1871 census info re Monaghan " board in April with info you can read from a third great grandaughter and another lady who checked army records of a Michael O'Monaghan not navy records. I am not sure this is the same Michael O'Monaghan but you might be interested in reading thru the anwers. There is another Michael Monaghan in early Ontario census. I did have all the census records.and the Flesherton newspaper archives already so still waiting for reliable records on his birth area. Do you have a picture of William James Monaghan your mother's grandfather? I have on about 1910.-12. if interested.
Keep in touch maybe one of us will get lucky on history. I started long ago and look every so often now. My email is mlgbg@hotmail.com

Hi Mary,
I believe we connected via Ancestry a couple years ago and sent pictures. The details you provided of William Monaghan matches history from leaving Ireland to Grays County, Canada, exactly matches what I had learned from another connection. If you could give me a name(s) of one of William's children, then we know we have definitely have connections. I have details from the searches of the childrens. If a name or names are verifiable, I have another idea to for research. I have been stumped searching, googling the name O' Monaghan, it seems as if the last name doesn't exist? If it is confirmed as noted, it would be great to have someone to search the family with.
Thank you,
Leslie

Also one more thing, does cancer run in your family? If so, it's a definite link, I have information regarding this. Have you done the Ancestry DNA? I was was given one as a gift, haven't done it yet.
