Seeking contact with members of Irish Flannery family and/or genological information, particularly regarding point of departure/immigration/rationale re: Denis FLANNERY, born about 1842, in Scarriff, County Clare.
Denis FLANNERY (1842 - 1918) left Ireland and lived most of his adult life Sydney, NSW, Australia. Local family lore has it that one of his brothers went to America, one to Australia and another to New Zealand. Denis's father (who is understood to have remained in Scariff) was Patrick Flannery; His mother was 'Bridget'. Denis's eldest brother - Patrick Flannery, is said to have stayed in Scariffe, County Clare.
My mother - Elizabeth Mary FLANNERY (1923- 2000) visited the Flannery 'cousins' in Scarriff, Clare in the mid-1950's; and was writing to the Irish cousins until her death in 2000. Contact with the family was lost at this time.
I would very much appreciate contact or information.

Greg,
I recommend that you check the following free Sites for informatiion on the Flannery family:
www.askaboutireland.ie for property owners early 1850's, Irish census 1901 and 1911 at www.nationalarchives.ie/census and irishgenealogy.ie for Births, Marriages and Deaths - 1864 to c1925.
There is a Patrick Flannery recorded in Griffith;'s for 1855. His address is Town of Scariff in the townland of Ballyminoge and parish of Tomgraney.
Subscription Site www.findmypast may give details on Denis Flannery - Ireland to Australia.
Do you have the address of the person your late mother was writing to?

Attached Files
Greg,
Attached copy of a marriage - Pat Flannery to Bridget Brady - February 1849. It may be of interest.
A check on www.findmypast.ie and www.rootsireland.ie did not show any Denis/Dennis Flannery. The first name "Daniel" is in the Scarriff area, but no record with parents Patrick Flannery and "Bridget".
