Margaret Kiely, who was born in 1931 in Mallow, Ireland, came to Huntington, England, in 1948 and was working as a Canteen Assistance in a factory. Her mother was living in County Cork, Ireland, and her father had passed away. Margaret had a sister also living in Huntington. Margaret named her boyfriend as an American called Howard, and was said to have returned to America before my mum, Maureen Esther Keegan born Linda Mary, was born on the 4th of September 1952 in Hammer Lane, Grayshot, Hindhead, England. Margaret went to the Mother & Baby Home at Greyshot were my mum was born, and she stayed there until the 28th of November 1952, when she took my mum up to the nursery at Sheringham, Norfolk (this closed in 1974). Margaret stayed with my mum there and worked as a Nursery Nurse caring for the babies and hoping to be able to make a plan to keep my mum with her. However, Margaret wrote to Miss Fletcher, who was the social worker, early in December 1952 asking for the application forms for adoption because she was finding that she had no means of supporting herself with a baby. Margaret subsequently left the nursery at Sheringham and went back to Huntingdon, and all the adoption formalities were completed whilst she was living there. After that I have no further information of Margaret's movements. My mum, Maureen, sadly passed away last year and in spite of trying to find her mum, Margaret, was never able to. I hope to find my grandmother, Margaret, and the rest of my relatives and wish that I had been able to do this while my mum was still alive. I'm currently living in Free Derry. If anybody can help me, my brothers and sister find Margaret and the rest of our relatives we would be forever grateful. My name is Christian Stuart Keegan.

Hi Christian,
My name is Lorraine, I am sorry to hear about the passing of your mum. Margaret was also my biological grandmother (i am adopted) Before your mum was born she had a baby boy who we think she named Patrick (now called Rob) on 28th September 1951 in Cork. He was also placed for adoption and he had me with my birth mum (but thats another story). I do have a little more information but wasn't sure how much to pop on here. I believe if we message a certain number of times we can private message eventually but unsure if this is the case.
