Yes they lived in Ballyshannon. My father was born in Ballyshannon.

I have trouble following the address system used. From what I know, Ballyshannon, Donegal. In some documents I found Cloghore shows up. My grandmother was a Rogan and I beleive her father had a tackle shop on Bridge Street.

Easy to find, the attached file, is William and Lena's marriage. ( seems I cannot alter the file header so it just the number.)
The births of three children were in Chapel Street.
As they were born before 1922, possibly you will find marriages up to 1944ish.
After that year use familysearch.org
You can go back futher as you now have their parents names.

Thanks for you replies. You have certainly added to my knowledge of ancestors. Can you help me understand the address system a little better.

Here in the States one would have a house and street number/name  1234 Main St.

Next would be the town or city                                                                     Dallas

Then the State                                                                                               Texas

And finally a zip code                                                                                   77002

Seldom if ever is the county name used.

How does this equate to your system. I was in contact with a cousin in Ballyshannon (till he passed) and his address was simpley Lisahully.for what I assume was a street.

This is my way of explaining.
In those days if you asked as you entered Ballyshannon your ancestors name I am sure you would be told where they lived, or even where they went shopping!

Townland is like a block in the USA. then if there is another name to the townland it's like the name of a place within the block, like a number in the block.

Barony
+ireland baroney - Search (bing.com)

Union ?   something like the above.   The town and surrounding area.

Parish ......... these often change, it's a Church in the area, some amalgamate but the old names are still used.

Zip code.    a USA thing.    Only a few years ago ireland had "Postal Code".   (these are far better than the UK ones)

Province     this is another ............On the first map, Ulster has a red line, the counties that are in the top part belong to the UK.
There three counties in Ulster that are in the Republic of Ireland.

Then in the Census you have DED
District Electoral Divisions.

In Church records you have a Diocese.
Some of these cover three counties.

All good fun searching.
