I know James married Bridget Lally in 1829, and his sister Ellen married John Lally, Bridget's brother, that same year in Offaly. These two couples had many children who fought along side them in the American Civil War. James Tyrrell was born in 1806 in Clara, and Bridget Lally in 1810, to a James Lally and Marcella Browne. The story was that these Tyrrells "were more Spanish than Irish" which I interpret as they soldiered for Spain. I do not know who James's parents were, other than his mothers name may have been Mary. I would really like to know more about these people and their parents and see if they are related to the some of the notable ones.
How? or Who? or help?

Juan:
Only one RC parish in Co. Offaly has baptismal records back to 1806 and earlier (Daingean parish) so my search for a James Tyrrell baptismal record on the subscription site Roots Ireland was unsuccessful.
The 1826 Tithe listings for Kilbride civil parish (where Clara is located) shows two Tyrrell records-- a John and a Patrick. Possibly one of the two was the father of James. The link has the Tithe page but the information is somewhat faint.

Thanks Roger. I think the John Lally is Bridget's brother. I will try to find more about a Patrick and John. Its possible James was baptised in Limerick, but I didnt know how to find it.
