i have tried to find the names of places listed after the names of Baptism sponsors and Marriage witnesses, without success.
These are the places, as far as i can read the handwriting.
Scororghy Newtown Tackanacomack Donohills Fermagh Goldengarden Ironsville Thandyan Culacusons Knockman Gentled Kilpatrick
Are they likely to be the names of extinct villages or the names of houses?
Thanks for your help.

These are likely the names of the townlands where the individuals lived.
See https://www.townlands.ie/tipperary/ to check on the spelling of the place names.
For instance, townlands.ie gives “Goldengarden (Garraí Orrtha) , Kilpatrick Civil Parish, Barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, Co. Tipperary 245 A, 1 R, 1 P,”
I hope this is helpful.

Johanna:
Also check Donohill civil parish. I can see Newtown and Scarrough townlands in that parish.

Many thanks Patricia and Roger. I was thinking in terms of suburb or house name.

Johanna,
It's doubtful that many houses had names. The townland is the name of the area where the people lived, so not sure what it is you are looking for?

Johanna I have asked a similar question but it is in the body of my ancester of Anacarty and Donohill. Circled to the side is SANACLARA (baptism of Jeramiah Bradshaw) and hyphanated after the witness Winifred Hanly is FARRANACLARA (marriage of John Bradshaw to Margaret Dunne). All of this is in the Catholic parish record nli 02496/04

I mixed that up in my message. It was Farandera in the baptism after the witness Hanly and Sanaclara in the marriage the year before. Still within the nli # 02496 /04 of the Anacarty and Donohill Catholic registers.

Johanna,
I've not seen the name of the witness' townland in baptismal records. I have seen the names of the child, the parents, the witnesses, and then the name of the townland the parents live in. I hope this is helpful.
