Hi,
im new to this site and trying to work out how to use it so I hope someone sees this message who may be able to help or pass it on.
My name is Ann Jane Bird, I’m looking for information on my family who came from Lisburn. I will be traveling over there in two weeks camera in hand to grab some nice shots of the area and hopefully where my family actually lived in the area. Here is what I have so far.
My GGG Grandfather William Bird Born Abt 1800 unknown wife his child as follows…
My GG Grandfather John Bird B.1827 Denight, Blaris D. 1903 Married Ann Best B. 1829 Portadown, Co Armagh D. 1914 Longstone St, Lisburn, Antrim their child…
My G. Grandfather Joseph Bird B. 1871 Blaris, Lisburn D. 21 Jun 1935 Govan, Glasgow Married to Annie Linn Bird (Possibly Cousin) B. Sept 1873 Govan Glasgow (Although I can’t find a record of her birth in Scotland’s People) D. 21 Jul 1939 Govan, Glasgow.
I’m now aware that there are many of the Bird family still living in Ireland and some of the family had moved to both Canada and Australia.
Any help or idea’s would be greatly appreciated thank you.
Ann.

Ann,
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out.
Not sure if you have John Bird and Ann Best’s marriage but of not here it is in 1854.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…
Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church which in this case was Drumcree Church of Ireland. So that may be where Ann was baptised. Their records start in 1788. Copy in PRONI in Belfast.
Joseph & Annie married in Partick in 1896. That marriage certificate should give you her parents details which could help us trace her side of the family. 1911 census says Annie was born in Partick c 1873. I agree there doesn’t seem to be a birth in Partick that fits that.
Informant for John Bird’s death was his son Richard. This may be him in the 1901 census:
He married Sarah Briars in 1898 at which time his address was Glasgow:
Birth registration started in 1864 in Ireland. Prior to that you need to rely on church records for baptisms. I can see the following children apparently born to John & Ann 1864 onwards:
Richard Bird 21.8.1868
Thomas 25.4.1865
Joseph 3.2.1871
Samuel 8.2.1877
Annie Bird in 1911:

The Valuation Revision records for Lisnoe 1909-1920 list Richard Bird there for part of the time on plot 3c which was a house, offices (outbuildings) and a small garden. Today that is on the modern Legacurry Rd. It had been 3 cottages in a row (3b, 3c & 3d). All those cottages look to have been demolished and it’s just trees there now.

Thank you kindly everyone, I will look into these. I just got back from Belfast, didn’t get to Lisburn this time because it seems that Longstone Road is now a Car Park and the other address I have is now an Industrial Estate.
I do plan to go back around March/April this time I will stay in Lisburn and hopefully by then I will be in contact with some of the Bird family who still live there, meantime I will continue to gather as much information as I can.
If by chance anyone comes across any other relative information or members of this Bird family or perhaps even some photos that I can add to my search before I travel back over, I would so much appreciate it.
