Burns may turn up on record as Byrne, Beirne as well. Also "John" may have been going by his second name. Do you have a ballpark year of birth?

To add to the information Rua kindly provided, the subscription ancestry.com website has three 20th century civil registration birth indexes for a John Burns/Byrne/Byrnes. One of these indexes may refer to the birth of the person you are looking for.

The first index below shows that the birth of John L. Byrne was registered in Dublin North in December of 1929. His mother’s maiden name is Glynn. The mother’s first name and the name of the father are not recorded in the index, which follows:

For example, a Google Map shows the location of the General Post Office (GPO), O’Connell Street, is north of the River Liffey, Dublin City, but the National Library of Ireland, Kildare Street, is south of the River Liffey in Dublin City: https://tinyurl.com/mry5ext7

The second index shows that the birth of John Burns was registered in Loughrea, Ireland in December of 1932. Loughrea is a townland in County Galway. The index shows that the maiden name of John’s mother is Glynn. Her first name and the name of John’s father are not recorded in the index, which follows:

The third index from ancestry.com shows the birth of John J. Byrnes was recorded in Ennistimon, Ireland in June of 1945. Ennistimon, also spelled, “Ennistymon,” is located in County Clare, near Ireland’s west coast. John’s mother’s maiden name is Glynn. The index is below:

Rua had suggested looking for the marriage of a Burns and Glynn at the free irishgenealogy.ie website. I found the possible marriage record for the parents of John Burns at irishgenealogy.ie. This John Burns was the child born in 1932.

The marriage record shows the marriage of a Patrick Burns and Mary Glynn took place in the Roman Catholic Church of Athenry, County Galway, on February 9, 1928. At the time of marriage Patrick had been a bachelor and Mary a spinster. Patrick’s occupation is “Farmer.” His residence at the time of marriage was “Leickla,” though I couldn’t find a townland by that name in County Galway. The marriage record also shows that Patrick’s father was Martin Burns, a “Farmer.”

Mary Glynn’s occupation is “Farmer.” Her residence at the time of marriage was Cuddo. Her father is John Glynn, of Cuddo. No occupation is recorded for John Glynn.

The priest who married Patrick and Mary was M. Farragher, P.P. The initials P.P. stand for “Parish Priest.” The witness to the marriage were Michael Burns and Maggie Glynn. Michael was probably the brother of the groom and Maggie the sister of the bride. The marriage was recorded in the Loughrea, Galway, Registration District on 1 March 1928 by the registrar, whose initials are J.K.
