Hi,

There is lots of information available on Robert and Elizabeth from irishgenealogy.ie (free site), which has birth, marriage and death records from 1864. There is also information available from the Fermoy parish records at rootsireland.ie (pay site). I got further information from Kilcrumper cemetery (Fermoy) burial records. There is no reference to Cross in the headstones of Clondulane graveyard. I know a descendant of the mill owners and will ask if there are any records. There is lots of information about the mill on internet sites. Contact me if you want any more on that.

Robert and Elizabeth were married in 1868. He was 29 and she was 17. His father was John Cross (alive in 1868), a miller, and her father Isaac Curtis was a Sergeant-Major in the army in Fermoy and was dead in 1868. Elizabeth died in 1885 aged 31. Robert died in 1903 aged 66.  There is a correction in small writing on each of the records for Robert and Elizabeth. On the record for Elizabeth it says that the husband should be Charles Robert Cross and on the record for Robert his age should be 66 and not 72. In the Fermoy parish records I could find only 7 children (see below), but there were others as F.J. Cross, a son, was the witness at his father’s death and I couldn’t find F.J. in the records.

I found a record for the baptism of Elizabeth Curtis in 1851 with parents Isaac Curtis and Mary Walsh. I couldn’t find a record for the marriage of Isaac and Mary. There is a death record for Isaac Curtis, Fermoy in 1867 aged 56. A scan for this record, where there will be more information, isn’t available yet. A copy can be ordered from the record office. Mary Curtis died in 1888 aged 56.

Robert C. Crosse from Clondulane purchased graves 1312 to 1314 in Kilcrumper cemetery. The cemetery records show that there were two burials there, James Thomas aged 29 in 1944 and Frances in 1949 aged 69, but the headstone records 4 burials, James Thomas, his parents Frances and Robert and their son John. John died in 1974 so his death wouldn’t be in the records as the records stopped in about 1970.
