My maiden name was Ford and recently had a message from a Dan Ford. He said I had a DNA match with his father and his father's living sister Gail Ford Duffy from Tuam parish, County Galway. My great grandfather was Thomas Ford born 1848 and his wife Mary Ann McCann born 1852. They moved to Glasgow and had 3 children Thomas (1884), Patrick (1886) and John (my grandfather 1879). My father Patrick was born in 1899 and his father John died in the 2nd Boer war in 1902 in South Africa. If anyone can help that would be great. Thankyou.

Marilynne:
I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and there were no Thomas Ford baptismal records in Tuam around 1848. The closest was a record in 1842 (July 10). The father was Dermot Ford and mother Margaret Manion.
There was a December 14 1847 baptismal record for a Thomas Ford in the nearby parish of Dunmore (just to the north of Tuam). Father was Thomas Forde mother Bridget Forde.
There were no Mary Anne McCann baptismal records in the Galway West area on Roots Ireland.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Roger. I have very little info on ancestors before they came to Scotland and England but I appreciate your time in looking.

Have you considered DNA testing? You may get matches that might assist with your Irish research.
