I am looking for help to trace my Grt Grandfather John McCarthy Born Curriegh Tallow in 1840 died Ballyre Dangan 1921 I am looking for siblings of his I know he had 1 sister Mary McCarthy / Carthy married David Long , I believe his father was also John McCarthy Born 1810 his mother Margaret Power not sure of the dates or his Mother or even fathers names. my Grandfather was married to Catherine Brian they had 9 children my Grandfather John Mccarthy Married Norah Forrest , my granduncle Florence Mccarthy, my other Granduncle Timothy Mccarthy Married Margaret Cashman, there sister Margaret Mccarthy Married John Draddy , Meenoughter , I know I am asking for something that is very very hard as the surname is probably 1 of the most common ones in Cork and John is also popular, so maybe I will never crack it , but I have tried everything and searched endlessly, so this is one place I haven't and was recommended to ask, if there's any chance please help I would be grateful, thanks

Allison, No baptism record found for Thomas or Mary Carthy/McCarthy. A Mary Carthy is recorded on May 9th 1872. Her address is Tallow. She married David Long, Widower, of Conna. His father is recorded as Michael a farmer. John Carthy is also recorded as a farmer. Regards,

That's Mary I am looking for is rhat her DOB 1872 , this is the problem Mary as named married David Long his 1st wife Mary Morrisonsy passed away and left 5 Children he then Married Mary Mccarthy/ Carthy they had 5 children she also passed away at a young age thus leaving 5 of her own plus 5 of David's previous marriage, as u can imagine there was a lot of upset within the family as no one took these especially the Mccarthy children in even thought apparently certain members had money that's the story anyways now apparently Mary was my Grt grandfather sister and this is what I am trying to get information if she was or wasn't definitely a relative as I have a DNA Match with Grt Grandson and Grt grt Granddaughter

Allison, Mary Carthy married David Long in Tallow on May 9th 1872. The entry states that she was of Full Age. You can download this entry for free irishgenealogy.ie Registrar's District Tallow. BMD records in Ireland are from January 1st 1864. Note: Many records were not reported to the Civil Authority. I did not find any baptism for Mary Carthy or Timothy Carthy with parents John McCarty/Carthy or Margaret Power in County Waterford. Regards,

Allison, A John Carty married a Catherine Power in Clashmore - West Waterford - on March 3rd 1835. Witnesses: Mary Russel and Michael O'Donnell Parents names not recorded. A Mary Carthy was baptised in Clashmore in April 1839. Parents: John Carthy and Catherine Power. There is also a John McCarthy who was married to a Mary Power. There is only one marriage recorded for Tallow which I found. That is John McArty and Margaret Power. Could your relatives be from the parish of Clashmore?. If you search catholicparishregisters@nli.ie you will get a map of the various parishes. You will then be in a position to judge the location of each. David Long is recorded for Conna which adjoins the parish of Tallow. Regards,

Hi all I am now looking for another Mary McCarthy sorry I know all these Marys and John are proving to be a hard nut to crack , again I have a match with relative this Mary was Born 1872 Cork died 01/01/ 1936 Cork married to Thomas Francis Nagle 1876 /1952 her father apparently John McCathy born possibly 1845 her Mother possibly Julie unknown maiden name also ideally I would like to know John's parents and any other siblings of Marys and her fathers , it's task I know but maybe it can be done Thankyou
