Hi there would anyone have any information on my grandad his name John Leo McKenna born 1912 from dungannon.now what I have researched is his dad was called John McKenna died in the first world war 1918.his mum died of broken heart not long after her name was jane McKenna maiden name Mullan.grandad never spoke about who looked after him all know is it was his auntie or his nan he moved to UK after the war.just trying to connect the dots really and see if.we have any family left as only dad that is still as his brother died and dad.if anyone has any info be must apprieated.i know we have Mullan McKenna Kelly's Morgan's and Donnellys and McGuone as I have done ancestry but don't know much many thanks Ann Marie xx

  • Jane in 1911 with her mother. Mother’s occupation appears to be a mistranscription. Correct occupation was charwoman.

  • Thank you would happen to know where jane died I can't find anything out about her or John really or even my grandad and can't even find out what boat he was on to get to England or who looked after him when he was orphan at 8 xxx

  • The ferry to England was a short domestic sailing and no passenger records have ever been kept on that type of voyage. So it’s unlikely you’ll find out now precisely when he travelled to England. He probably sailed from Belfast to Liverpool but he might have gone from Dublin.  That’s about as far as we can say.
