Is there any way to access coroner reports. My half brother was killed in an automobile accident on June 3, 1957 while in foster care. The accident occurred between Carnew and Shillelagh. It has taken me many years to find his grave and have a marker placed. His death was never registered. As there was an inquest, it would have been the coroners responsibility to register his death. It was not registered.
I have made many attempts at contacting the coroners offices in County Wicklow and the office in Bray, with no success.
Are there any coroner or police reports on line that I could search?
I have all the forms required to register James Leslie Gaffney's death but the Registrars office needs an official document stating the cause of death.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Rochelle, You will not find any Coroner's or Police reports online. I suggest that you engage a solicitor to investigate this matter. It is over 60 years since his death and files may not be available at present. Do you have any press reports of the accident? Regards,
McCoy

Hello McCoy I have one newspaper article Dated Sat July 8,1957. It is from the Wicklow People. I also have all of James' records which I obtained from TUSLA. They hold all the records from baby homes from back then. They were so kind and helpful. I hope to be in Ireland later this year. I'll try visiting the coroners record office in person and I may pay a visit to the garda stations in Carnew and Shillelagh. The foster parents are mentioned in the news article. Michael Woodroofe. I've tried contacting Woodroofs in the area but no one knows them. I was hoping a family member was still in the area and would have some information for me. One gentleman in particular was most obliging. He did some research for me and also sent me his genealogy research ! Thank you for replying Rochelle Knox
