Hi from Queensland, Australia. I will be travelling to Ireland this year and am hoping to source as much information as I can so I can visit the places where my family came from on my mother’s side.
My grandfather’s name was Denis O’Shea and his parents were Cornelius and Mary née Whelan. Denis was born in Hospital but the family lived in Galbally. We know he attended school there as we have a very old class school photo (unfortunately we do not know which child he is). We were told Con and Mary ran a pub/store in Galbally before the family left for Australia in 1910.
I would be very grateful for any information that you have of my family.

Ann Merie:
I could not come up with a marriage record for the couple and I looked on irishgenealogy.ie and the subscription site Roots Ireland. I assume Mary was not married before?
I did locate the 1901 census record and the civil birth record for Denis. Any other clues?

Thanks so much Roger for getting back to me. It really is appreciated. No Mary had not been married before, as far as we are aware.
The school Denis attended was Emly and his parents Cornelius and Mary O’Shea may have run a pub/store possibly called the Scanlon at the time. I found a post on this site from 29th June 2021 by another Queenslander, Jules, seeing very similar information about a Thomas Patrick O’Shea and my Grandfather Denis did have a brother called Thomas so I think there may be a connection there.
