My great-great grandfather was married in Ballynascreen, or Ballinascreen, Dungiven, Draperstown, Derry. On the marriage certificate recorded in the RC church at Ballynascreen was the following annotations, 3 43 FL AL consas.
Does anyone know what that means? After each numerical/alpha annotation was a "degree sign".

It means they were cousins. The annotations explain the level (degree) of consanguinity.

Thank you for the explanation. So, would this be 1st, 2nd or 3rd cousin? Can I tell if it is on the mother's or father's side?

This chart explains the degrees of consanguinity. I don’t think the notations on most marriage records necessarily say which side of the family the relationship existed. And I am not confident about saying for certain what the notes mean in terms of consanguinity and affinity.
