I am a descendant of James Doyle of Adamstown, County Wexford, born in 1796 (d 1863). This James emigrated to Prince Edward Island in 1816. He married (Countess) Margaret Lacey (1811 -1897).
There is a gravestone in the Adamstown churchyard, referring to the man we believe was (our) James Doyle's father, also called James.
DOYLE: Erected by Johanna Doyle of Adamstown in memory of her father James Doyle who died 11 May 1817, age 61 years Also, her mother Mary Doyle (Dillon) who died 12 April 1819 age 60 years; the above Johanna Meyler nee Doyle, died 6 October 1887.
The elder James Doyle (as above, d 11 May, 1817, age 61) may be the one who farmed 11 acres in the townland of Raheenvaren, under landlord Richard Browne Clayton. We believe that Margaret Lacey's family lived in the same townland.
We search as well for any information on Christina Meyler (relative of Johanna, above?) married to a Charles Murphy, father to Matthew (b 1762 Wexford, wife Mary O'Neill) emigrated to Prince Edward Island in 1811.
We would appreciate any assistance we could get on the above.

Pauline, According to the death records on irishgenealogy.ie (free site) Johanna died on November 13 1889 aged 72 and the death was registered (at New Ross) on December 7 1889. It is possible that whoever transcribed the headstone mixed up the '9' and the '7'. The witness to the death was her daughter Mary Myler. Johanna's husband was Walter Meyler who died on October 25th 1885 aged 72. His death was also witnessed by Mary. I couldn't find a record for the marriage of Walter and Johanna. There was a baptism of a child in June 1855 with Myler as the surname and no christian name. The parents were Walter Meyler and Johanna Doyle and the address was Newtown. There were also a children Brigid baptised in 1853 (parents Johanna Doyle and Wat Meyler) and Francis baptised in 1857 (parents Pat Meyler and Johanna Doyle). At that baptisms may have occurred in the parents house and the priest mixed up the names 'Wat' and 'Pat'. There is no sign of a baptism record for Mary Meyler. However, there is a death record for Mary Meyler aged 50 in Adamstowm in 1907. The death was witnessed by her sister Bridget Kent.
