Hello, would anyone have info for the marriage of Pat Farrell and Mary Keneally/Kenally--he was from Derrymore, Tulla Parish, County Clare; I assume she was from the same area. They would have been married between about 1853 and 1860. Patrick's first wife, Margaret Cahill, apparently died during this period and he remarried. Patrick and Mary baptized a daughter Bridget in Tulla Parish on December 3, 1860.

Would love to know anything about the marriage of Patrick and Mary, and any other children they may have had. Believe they left Ireland for the US by 1870. (I have good information on the marriage of Patrick and Margaret, and their known children).

Thanks for any assistance,

Bill

  • Bill,

On the Clare Library site, www.clarelibrary.ie, the birth of Bridget is there to a Margaret Kenally and Patrick Farrel with the residence given as Lahardan. There are no more children found from 1862 until 1881 in Tulla. The marriage records for Tulla on that site go from 1819 to 1881, but I could not locate a record for Patrick and Mary. Could they have been married in a neighboring parish?

  • Bill,

I just realized that you were asking about Patrick and Mary; however, that record I mentioned above is for Patrick and Margaret. Apologies if this is not information that you were seeking.

  • Hi Carolyn,

For the baptism you mention of Bridget, I read the original entry in the Tulla record as Mary Kenally, although the writing is a little unclear--could also be "Margt"--were you referencing a transcription?

In any case, thanks for looking for their marriage--I assume it's possible this took place in a neighboring parish.

    Your help is much appreciated!

  • Hi Bill,

Yes, the Clare Library site has records donated by volunteers who transcribed the original records. For Tulla, the birth and marriage records are from 1818 to 1891. They are organized by both parents'surnames as well as the date of birth. I too have Clare relations from Kilfenora and Liscannor; and I have found many good records on the site. The site also has many other types of records for the county that I have not seen elsewhere. In my own family records, I have had the same difficulty when the name Margaret is abbreviated, and it looks like Mary. Check out the website!
