Hi,
Under the residence column for an 1862 RC marriage record, there is a townland of Elly, Kilmore listed in a record I am viewing. Does that mean that both people marrying are from that townland? The entire page of entries only has a single townland for each couple listed.
Thanks!
Carolyn

Carolyn:
The marriage was not held in Killala RC church but rather Kilmore Erris. Killala is the Diocese.
My guess is that the priest was showing either the groom's townland or possibly the townland where the couple would be residing.
