Hello: My name is Dennis Patrick McGuire and I am researching my great grandparents, Denis Patrick McGuire and his wife Mary Reilly to America in 1863 from Roscommon. I suspect they came from Kilglass because statistically so many McGuire's and McDermott's lived in Kilglass.
The McGuire family, two parents, 10 children, one sister in law, Bridget Reilly (1829), and two friends, all listed from Roscommon were passengers onboard The Cultivator, out of Liverpool to New York City in 1863.
I do not know if their friends were relatives: Michael McCorrick (sp?) DOB est. 1828 and James McCarrick DOB est 1845 from Roscommon.
I suspect four of the oldest McGuire children, Hugh (1842), Jane (1845), Elizabeth (1846) and James (1848) were from Denis' first wife who must have died, Elizabeth McDermott McGuire. I estimate her date of death to be between 1848 and 1856.
We have so far researched unsuccessfully for any of Denis, Mary or Elizabeth's birth, marriage or death records.
Any help finding a connection in Kilglass will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dennis P McGuire
