I am looking for any information on my third great grandfather who was tried and convicted in Cork for Uttering (passing fake notes). He was transported to NSW, Australia. A pioneer register in NSW says he was born about 1760 in Clonmel, Cork. Maybe there are also newspaper articles about his crime.
This has long been a dead end on my family tree.

https://convictrecords.com.au/convicts/mahony/william/130896 This is an online record for William Mahony b 1/1/1760 d 15/11/1848. Although he was convicted at Cork court, Clonmel is in County Tipperary. He was transported on the ship 'Rolla' departing 4/11/1802 and arriving 12/5/1803. There are a number of observations about his life and family listed on this record. It is very unlikely that newspapers of the time would have articles on those who were transported, the policy of the time was to send as many as possible including their children so as not to have to bear any costs on poor law unions. Irish birth/marriage/death records really only date from the middle of the 1800's so unless you have an idea of his parish or area , it is very difficult to link his past, but never say never, good luck with the search.
