Greer’s

Good Evening ! I’m looking for information on a Greer family ( many spelling variations ). I do have some information. I’ve found my great great grandfather John Greer (1821-1904).  He was born in Kilronan, county Roscommon.  His father Patrick Greer born 1795 not sure of date of death.  Patrick’s father has me going in circles.  His father as best as we can tell goes by Colonel Greer approx year of birth 1770 and his wife all I have is a surname Curran.  Story goes that Colonel Greer was secretary for Lord Tension at Castle Tension ( Kilronan Castle and now a hotel ). According to story Lord Tension gave Colonel Greer land as a gift. Colonel Greer’s son Patrick married Mary Lees.  I know this is a complete long shot verifying anything this far back. My great great grandfather at some point moves to Scotland and marries Bridget Elizabeth Rowley also Irish born.  Thank you so much.
