Have recently learned that my family, the Sweeney’s, were evicted from their land during the famine. The only information I have is that they were from hollymount Mayo and made their way over to Ballyedmond galway where they found land to work belonging to George Vesey. Their eldest son and born in galway. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don’t even know the Christian name of my great great grandfather.

Magsween,
Attached Griffith's valuation record for Ballyedmond 1856. I t shows "Owen Sweeney" in the townland.
What information have you on Hollymount. He may be in the Tithe Records.

Thanks McCoy,
we believe that Owen Sweeny is a different family, allegedly, apart from having a different spelling it appears they were already established there. Will try the tithe records.
