 Slater's Directory 1870 for Lismore. There is a record of a Michael Crowley, Butcher at Main Street, Lismore. You will need to include details of Michael's family to order to identify any living relatives. Record also under Public Houses.

Due to the time frame, I have not figured out any living relatives - Michael and Ellen married in Cappoquin and no witnesses were Crowley’s or Kiely’s. Only 2 of their children had children and that in the US and I seem to know the most of everyone. I have one possibly stayed in Ireland but no trace besides a random baptism. Family headstone in Lismore does not have her name on it. When Ellen died in 1903, the child living with her on the 1901 census emigrated to the US. Man years ago (18 or so) I wrote letters to the 3 or 4 Crowley’s I could find in the Lismore phone book (they used to be online!) but no one responded. 

Names of Michael’s and Ellen’s children

Bridget emigrated to Boston Massachusetts, no children

Michael (died of TB)

Ellen (died of TB

Carthage (died an infant)

Peter (died a child)

Margaret my great grandmother, immigrated to Boston Massachusetts USA

Catherine, immigrated with Margaret, existing descendants in the USA

Theresa immigrated after her mother died, no children

Honora - I have seen 1 reference to a Honora.

Ellen is listed as a caretaker on the 1901 census in House 1 on Chapel place, I am told the place is now a St Vincent de Paul center.

Subscription site  www.rootsireland.ie  - has the following baptisms for children of Michael Crowley and Ellen Kiely who married 25th January 1854:

Ellen - 1856 - Mary - 1858 - John - 1861 - Michael - 1864 - Catherine - 1866 - Margaret - 1867 - Peter - 1869. Baptismal Sponsors for John were James Power and Mary Hayes.

Tithe records - 1823 - 1837 do not have a "Crowley" recorded in Lismore. There is a David Kiely recorded in Ballynoe Lower, Cappoquin in 1825.

Michael Crowley was granted a Spirit licence in 1860 - End of column 2 - Waterford Chronicle.

I attach a Civil death record for an Ellen Crowley in 1903. She is recorded as widow of a shopkeeper and 53 years of age. - No. 175 on page. Is she your relative?

Yes the civil records for Ellen’s death is mine, although the age is off. Attaching the census of 1901 at 1 Chapel Place, living with daughter Teresa who emigrated to my great grandmothers address shortly after. There is also a headstone in the Catholic center erected  by Teresa to the family. 
Bridget baptism in Cappoquin is in July 1857 on the NLI. Attached also. 

Here is Bridget’s baptism, will have to add census later, as it won’t upload in the format I have. 
same with Michael and Ellen’s marriage, also on the NLI. 
interesting looking at the Slater’s page, there is also a Flinn as a butcher on Main St. In a grave (owned by the family) here near Margaret here in Boston  there is Bridget, and a Flynn who I have never identified, although I haven’t tried in years. I’ll get back to that one at some point.

If you're going to be in Dublin you might consider making an appointment to consult the Valuation Office books for Lismore: https://www.valoff.ie/en/archive-research/book-a-public-office-appointm… (It's best to make an appointment well in advance.) They should enable you to trace who occupied the premises from the 1860s up to the 1960s. Local knowledge should take you from there to the present. That way you should be able to identify the correct building.

Unfortunately I will not be in Dublin until the end of the trip to Ireland. Thank you for the advice. 

C. Flaherty, thanks for the info. I have hired a researcher to go the Valuation office for me.

question for McCoy - thank you for the links. I will be passing them on to the researcher going to the valuation office for me. Where did the pdf’s from the papers come from? I have a newspapers dot com membership but I don’t see them there.

McCoy - thanks, my question is really what database did the newspaper pdf’s come from. I have newspaper and , ancestry  subscriptions, but none of them carry the Waterford Chronicle. Have had FMP previously but not now. Thanks.

You can get the 1860 entry for free. The Cork herald is not shown on the free section.

I suggest that you print the pages that you want to send to Dublin and scan them. You should be able to get then to your contact, or post them - Normally 5 days to reach Ireland.
