Seeking death records and burial info on Flynn Famliy from County Clare

Your family appears to be in the townland of Raheen, Civil Parish of Tomgraney. Griffith's record for a Patrick Flynn who is possibly the father of Martin.

The following births are recorded in Kilnoe  - Source: www.clarelibrary.ie/genealogy - Donated by Sheila Duddy:

Pat - November 10th 1857 - Catherine - January 11th 1862 - Mary - March 15th 1863 - Anne May7th 1865 - John - December 1867 - Margaret - July 3rd 1869 - David - April 1864 - Philip - January 19th 1878.

The address for most was "Raheen".

Civil registration of records in Ireland are from January 1st 1864, with the exception of Protestant marriages which are from 1845.

You should be able to download records from 1865 onwards, provided that the births were registered with the local Registrar - Free Site - www.irishgenealogy.ie

There is another son, Edward, baptized 11 Apr 1880. His record is also on the clarelibrary.ie site. His sponsors were John and Kate Flynn. His record on irishgenealogy.ie shows his birth as 7 Apr 1880, residence Raheen. The library site has marriages beginning in 1832, but I could not locate a record for Martin and Mary. There are some Thorntons and Flynns listed as baptism sponsors for their children on that same site.

Attached is the marriage record for Martin Flynn and Mary Thornton in 1857.

I think Patrick may already have this record.

Thanks for that...I do not have access to findmypast.ie. I did look on the clare library site of the RC parishes surrounding Kilnoe, Killaloe included, but did not see this. I guess that the records on the library site are not exhaustive! That site did help me in tracking down my relations from Clare though, so I was happy for that!

Thank you for your replies and suggestions. I am having no luck finding any more info on my Great Great Grandparents. I have managed to find my Great Grandfather, Pat Flynn's baptism record from The Parish of Bodyke (Kilnoe, County Clare). They were very helpful indeed. I was hoping to at least find a grave site for my GGP since they assumingly remained in Ireland, where as Pat migrated to South Africa to work on the Kimberley Mines along with other Irish immigrants.

I attach records of the 1901 and 1911 Irish census for Martin Flynn - Raheen and death records for Mary Flynn 1913 No. 447 and Martin Flynn in 1916.

Mary Flynn died at home in Raheen.. Martin Flynn died in Scariff hospital.

In relation to gravestones - due to cost, very few people could afford to have a gravestone erected..

If a family member was being buried in the same grave in later years, their names may be included.

You will need to get a local researcher to make inquiries.
