Hi all
Sometime ago I endeavoured to identify previously unknown siblings for my earliest known Sullivan/Lynch family (1830) from Ardtully, Kilgarvan. I have been able to identify some siblings by using a combination of DNA shared matches as well as marriage witnesses & baptism sponsors. I also had the help of several other interested descendants from this parish. What became a simple quest for further family information has slowly evolved into a study of many of the families from Kilgarvan. The interconnectedness of these families has proven to be very complex and whilst I am no where near finished I have been able to identify some very interesting family connections, particularly some of those who emigrated.
I have also uncovered numerous Sullivan nicknames in use in the early to mid 1800's. At this stage there appear to be 2 Sullivan lines from Ardtully, the Downy/Downing line and another Sullivan line which at this stage is unidentified. From Kilbonow there was the Sullivan Cooper line and from Rosseighteragh there was the Sullivan (aka Bl(ue,ew,oo,d)man line. Some others were the McCann, Bouly, Barruil (etc) & Cumba lines, although these were more dispersed around the parish.
I am particularly interested in the Ardtully families of Sullivan (Downey etc), Lynch and McCarthy; the Kilbonow families of Sullivan (Cooper) & Healey and the Quills in general, one line of which has confirmed DNA back to Ardtully. If anyone is interested in contacting me, I would be more than happy to exchange information.
All the best Chris, NSW

Hi Chris,
Would you post your email address? I have Kilgarvan ancestors--Mansfields from Fussa, which borders on Ardtully. I have also traced some Kilgarvan Sullivans, as they lived near my Mansfields when they emigrated to NYC. I think there is a relationship, but I haven't figured it out. Other names that pop up: Orpen and Aldworth.

Hi Patricia
My email address is raccos@hotmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you, although the Mansfields haven't hit my radar yet.
