My research with Ancestry show my GGfather, John Daley (1806 Dysart Parish, Clontoohill, County Clare, Ireland), married to Margaret Maley (1812) in 1840 in Dysart Parish, County Clare, Ireland. Research with other Family Trees show 2 children born before that wedding date. Francis Daley (08/13/1837, County Clare, Ireland) and Bridget Ann Daley (05/20/1839, county Clare, Ireland) 2 possibilities: They are not his children and belong to a different John Daley OR. They are his children with wife #1and she died and he remarried. Oh, possibility #3, marriage date is wrong. I show he arrived in the US 06/13/1836 on Ship Quinton originated in Ireland, departing from Liverpool. I personally do not have certificates for any of the above dates. Any clarification you can shed will be so appreciated. Thank you
Betty

Betty,
I attach Tithe records for a John Daly in Dysert Parish 1843 and a John Daley in the Parish of Ruan.
Those parishes are now joined. clareheritage@gmail.com have parish records for those and adjoining parishes. They may be able to sort out the different families.
They are based in Kilfenora and charge a fee for their service.
Regards
McCoy

Betty,
Correction - Clare Heritage Centre is in Corrofin, not Kilfenora as I have stated.

Betty,
Could you give us some info about the Daleys in the US? Where? Names of children? Any other info? Thanks.

I am so happy to find the way to more information on my GG Grandfather John Daley. I do have a lot of information on my Family Tree program. Would we happy to print it out and mail it to you. My GGrandfather Jeremiah A Daley was a prisoner of war was served time at the Andersonville Prison in Georgia, US. We have letters and a transcription of his diary. Please give me the address that is best for you. Thank you again.

Betty,
The baptism and marriage records for the Ruan/Dysart RC parish do not begin until 1845. If your John Daley emigrated to the US in 1836, it's rather unlikely that he returned to Ireland to father children and marry there in 1840, and then return back to the US. You referred to family trees in your post...do you mean the Ancestry trees? I took a look at them, and they do not seem to be supported by much documentation with the exception of the 1850 US census of this family living in Albany, NY with five children, the eldest one being Sarah.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
thank you for the quick response. Definitely looks like a dead end as far as confirmation. I do have a second cousin that has some research will check with him to see if he has any confirming facts. We have several combined parishes here in Cohoes and our earliest entries are 1848. Must be it didn’t seem necessary at that time.
Thank you again,Betty
