I'm looking for passenger lists from two ships; Brooksby and Elsinore. Brooksby arrived in New York in 1848 with three passengers Margaret, Susan and Elizabeth Malone, ages 19, 18 and 17 respectively. Elsinore arrived in 1848 (not certain where) with an Edward Foley, aged 24.
Would someone be able to verify those ships and passengers?
Thank you very much.

Pat,
You can see the records for the three Malone girls on dunbrody.com under the emigrant database section. They arrived in New York on 29 July 1847 from Glasgow...it states that their country of origin was Great Britain, not Ireland as is listed in other records. Elizabeth's name was abbreviated to Elizth, and Margaret's to Margt.
I looked on this same database as well as another one, aad.archives.gov, but did not find Edward Foley.
Regards,
Carolyn

Further down the same list that Carolyn has stated does say Irish Immigrants for Susan, Elizth and Margt. 6 records listed.
At that time it would stated Great Britain, as it was then.
I have kept the ship record for you and I have copied and pasted the search results in a word document.
Email me is you would like them.

Pat,
I found this record on FamilySearch (free). It was from "United States Famine Irish Passenger Index, 1846-1851." I did not include a passenger list.

Thanks to one and all for the work you put in to find this information.
i keep forgetting to ask, I’ve tried to donate in the past and it always asks for it in Pounds, I believe. How does that work? If it goes on a credit card, does it automatically calculate into dollars?
Thanks again

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the information, and boy it is close but I don't believe it's the correct ones. Elizabeth did marry an Edward in Illinois after her first husband passed away. In the marriage record from St Pat's in LaSalle, IL. Elizabeth Malone married a Michael Farrell in 1851 and both their parents were listed, hers being Michael Malone and Anna McNamara. She then married Edward Foley, also at St Pat's and his parents were listed as John Foley and Ellen Cavanagh. Witnesses to the marriage were Ed Hayden and Margaret Malone.
According to the passenger list I inquired about, Margaret was 19, Susan was 18 and Elizabeth was 17.
Thanks again for your research.
