Hi,
I hope you are able to assist with gathering information about Hannah Morrissey, name/ spelling variations Ann Morrissey, Honor Morris, Honora

Tuam is recorded on shipping information, I don't know if this is a workhouse that she was in or her place of birth.
I am visiting Ireland in May/June and wish to see where Honora is from.
Any help is appreciated

Hi Margaret,
From looking through records online, my guess is Hanoria (Honor) Morris was one of 56 girls sent from Tuam workhouse, in Tuam, Co Galway, on the Earl Grey scheme. The ship Inchinann was one of the ships which transported these girls. The workhouse buildings in Tuam were demolished some time ago.
There were Morris families in both Tuam town and in Abbeyknockmoy, which came under the Tuam Union Poor Law area, and Honor may have originally come from one of these places.
I hope this is of some help to your search.Caren

Hi Margaret,
The records you provided show that Tuam was Honor's "native place." I found a baptismal record on RootsIreland, as follows. The year is earlier than the one you have for your Honor, but the parents' first names match, as does Tuam. There were other children in this family as well.
Name:Honor Morris
Birth:
Baptism:01-Oct-1832
Address:Not Recorded
Parish/District:TUAM
Gender:Female
Co. Galway
Denomination:Roman Catholic
Father:Daniel Morris
Mother:Bridget Gilmore
