Some of the registers for Kilrossanty RC parish are very badly faded, but I located one child in the records - difficult to be certain but I think maybe Richard Power (NLI - 2nd entry on the page) baptised 8th April 1860 parents Patrick Power and Bridget Caine, residence of the family is given as 'Bally Keroge' (the first names are Latinised)

The Parish had at least two chapels - one to the north of Kilmacthomas at Killnagrange and a second to the west of the parish at Boolattin townland. The townlands of Ballykeroge Big and Little would have been much closer to the second of these.

Based on the civil birth for Edmond Power 24th January 1868 at Ballykeroge - see the following very faint Kilrossanty RC parish register page for January 1868 - I believe the 4th entry is probably for an Edwardo Power, the mother's maiden surname is Kane, a variant of Cain(e), family surname appears to be Power, one of the sponsors/godparents is also a Power... Baptisms for the other children are probably somewhere in the same faded registers.

Using Google Maps, I see that the Boolatin townland in Kilrossanty might be the closest chapel at the time of this family living in Ballykeroge. Did the chapel there have a name?  Found the one in Kilnagrange, FEWS, was St. Anne's (circa 1815), but did not find a name for the chapel in Boolatin.  Was it St. Brigid?

AND, Richard was their first born in April, 1860 so I will look for their marriage records just prior to that date.

And their other children were:

John Joseph, my g-grandfather, born 10 June 1864

James J born 1870 no date.

Patrick we think was born in 1866

Anastasia born 13 March 1872

It looks like Edmond's (1868) godmother was another Anastasia Power, which might mean Patrick had a sister with the same name as his daughter.......another mystery in the naming pattern!!  THANK YOU!

AND, hello, Roger!  We meet again during a cold March!  My notes say March 2017 was a time of correspondence when we both anticipated snow!

I will connect with the link you provided to share information about our planned trip.  We hope to connect the areas of my ancestors with some day hikes in various places because my 16 g-g-grands are from all different places (some still unknown).  

This Power find is fantastic because it is another common name.  Thank heaven he married Leahy in Newcastle- the pieces are being put together!
