Dear IRO -
I am curious where I can find out about Irish emigration information, in general, and some specific information if possible
My grandmother, Elizabeth (Eliza) Grennan, born near Frenchpark Roscommon in 1869, left to go to the United States around but I'm unable to find out when and where she left.
Both my great grandfathers, John Mannion, born, I believe in Co. Galway around 1844 or so, emigrated to Liverpool area (not sure when), had a name change to John Manning and married my great grandmother, Mary Ann Hanley, early 1870s and birthed my grandfather, John Manning, in 1879. My other great grandfather, Patt Hanley, also emigrated to Liverpool, but I don't know when.
Are there any resources that I could search to find out any relevant information , i.e. when my family members left Ireland and where they went? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Brian,
I checked on Ancestry (paid subscription) and did not find Elizabeth on a passenger list but the 1910, 1920, and 1830 US censuses has her immigration year as 1890. Now that you have an approximate year, you might check Ellis Island records or check out FamilySearch a free website. She married John Mannion in 1904.

Brian:
You won't find any records from Ireland to Liverpool since it was internal travel within the United Kingdom.
Ellis Island opened in 1892, Castle Garden was the point of entry in 1890. https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/ny-castle-garden-ellis-island

Ancestry gives passenger info for a John Mannion who emigrated in 1899. It says he was Irish, but you noted that your John was born in Liverpool. He may have identified as Irish or the person writing down the info on the passenger list may have erred. Anyway, have a look.
Name John Mannion Gender Male Ethnicity/ Nationality Irish Age 20 Birth Date abt 1879 Departure Port Queenstown, Ireland Arrival Date 26 Mar 1899 Arrival Port New York, New York, USA Residence Place Castlerea Ship Name Umbria Patricia

Brian,
Have you looked at the UK census records? They would show you where in the UK the individuals lived. Also, you would get an idea of when they left Ireland. Good luck.
